DB error

I just noticed a DB error. The report ID is 2039696499.

I have no idea what caused it because I haven't had any problems and I'm not sure when the error appeared. The error report appears to be related to an import I just did though.

Here's the text from the error report:

[JavaScript Error: "not well-formed" {file: "file:///D:/Planning/City%20Docs/City%20of%20Hamilton%20(2005)%20CITY-WIDE%20and%20Downtown%20Parking%20and%20Loading%20Study.pdf" line: 1 column: 9 source: "%PDF-1.6
--------^"}]
  • That's not a database error. Report Errors becomes activated if Firefox or any installed extension logs something to the Error Console. It's only necessary to send in a report if you're actually experiencing some problem and think something in there might be related.

You can check for database errors with "Check Database Integrity" in the Advanced pane of the Zotero prefs.
  • Thanks Dan,

Yes, I discovered that the error had nothing to do with the DB.

The reason I had thought they were related is because I had just done exactly what you suggested (i.e. I did a DB integrity check) and it told me there were errors. So then when I looked at the "Report Errors..." I saw the above error description.

So is there anyway to find out where the error is in the DB, because the database integrity check doesn't appear to give me any feedback. I apparently fixed it using the DB repair tool (https://www.zotero.org/utils/dbfix/), but I have no idea which records I've lost in the process (if any).

    Thanks

You could use the SQLite 3 command-line client on your old database and run 'PRAGMA integrity_check;', but that probably wouldn't return much useful feedback.

It's unlikely that you lost any records. Most likely there was just some corruption in the large fulltext word index, not in the item data tables. If possible, you might consider upgrading to Firefox 3, which fixes database corruption issues in Firefox 2.
