Citation doesn't appear in library

I just installed Zotero in Firefox on my new Windows 8 laptop. I did a search in Google Scholar, and the folder to cite to Zotero appeared in the address bar. I clicked the folder, selected the articles I wanted, and it said it was saving it to my library, but when I go to my library, the citation is not there. I did enter my username and password into the Sync preferences. Any ideas why it isn't working?
  • But the items do show up locally in Zotero, right? You see them when you click on "Zotero" at the bottom right of your Firefox window?
    If so

  • I just cleared the cache and restarted the computer and everything seems to be working now. Thanks!
  • I'm having a similar problem: found an article in pubmed that I want to save, click on the article to cite button in the firefox address bar. A pop up appears in the bottom right of the screen that it is saving to the group library. After a time, the pop up disappears, but the citation does not appear in the group library.

Using Zotero standalone, has been working perfectly up until this morning. When it was working previously, the pop up contained more information about the article that it was saving, now the pop up says only that it is saving to the group library.

Have tried restarting firefox and Zotero, and rebooting the machine as well. Have tried using two different computers that are connected to the same group library and getting the same result on both machines. Libraries are sync'ed on both machines.

    Any insights?

Mike, I'm glad it's not just me! Inputting manually is not fun (#firstworldproblem).

Update: I went back and it's just PubMed. Pulled something in from Elsevier successfully.
  • Different issue: just try this a couple of times when that happens. Pubmed has been a bit shaky with their API recently, so sometimes we get an empty response and then you get the behavior you're seeing. We're working on making this clearer via an error.
  • update. I tried adding a citation from amazon, and it came across just fine. Starting to think that it is a problem with getting the data from pubmed? anyone else having similar problems with getting citations from pubmed?
  • yeah, looks like pubmed's API is more generally down. That typically resolves quickly. If you're in a hurry, you can use the solution described here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/30362/how-do-i-import-a-list-of-references-from-pubmed-nbib-file-not-recognised-by-zotero/#Item_6
    as a workaround
  • Same thing here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21826166

I think I'll try manual import
  • I changed my privacy settings in FF and it started working.
