How do I import a list of references from PubMed? .nbib file not recognised by Zotero

Hi,
I have written a search term in PubMed which I then need to get into Zotero. Using the 'send to citation manager' function in PubMed generates a .nbib file which Zotero doesn't recognise. Please help ASAP!
  • click on "Display Settings" on the left, select XML, save the result to your HD and then use "Import" from Zotero's gears menu, selecting the saved file.
  • after i click to display as XML it opens all the text in a webpage. How should i then save this? When i right click and press save, it saves it as a 'web page, complete' file which then Zotero can't recognise when I try and import it. Thanks.
  • If you're using Firefox, you should have an option to select "Text Files" instead of "webpage complete" - I'd assume the other browsers have a similar option, let me know if you can't find that and I'll look for it.
  • Great thanks - that worked. I was using Chrome and the only options were web page, complete or web pahe, HTML.
  • just html worked then? Good to know. FWIW, you can also just select the entire contents with ctrl+a, copy, and then use "import from clipboard" in Zotero. The main difference is that while "import" will create a new collection, "import from clipboard" will add the items to the currently selected collection
  • No, Chrome didn't work, I had to use 'text files' option in Firefox. Thanks for the other tip too.
  • There is also the option to "Send to File" (rather than "Send to Citation manager") which allows direct export as an XML file (selected in File Format).
Just tried it now after failing with nbib.
PubMed is sufficiently used that I think this tip should be added to the Documentation:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/getting_stuff_into_your_library
I can't currently get a DocuWiki login to do so myself, but will try again in a few weeks if not already done.
Thanks all for the (existing) advice.
