"ID" in field code in Word trackable in Zotero library?

Hi,

I've following problem. I have several library entries from Nordhaus in the year 1994. Now I want to trace back from the field code in my Word document, which citation is linked to which library entry E.g. (Nordhaus, 1994b) with following source code.

ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"xeEdZ6UM","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Nordhaus, 1994b)","plainCitation":"(Nordhaus, 1994b)"},"citationItems":[{"id":2146,"uris":["http://zotero.org/groups/49347/items/2WPIF8DH"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/groups/49347/items/2WPIF8DH"],"itemData":{"id":2146,"type":"article-journal","title":"Expert Opinion on Climatic Change","container-title":"American Scientist","page":"45–51","volume":"82","source":"Google Scholar","call-number":"0232","author":[{"family":"Nordhaus","given":"W. D"}],"issued":{"date-parts":[["1994"]]}}}],"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"}

I figured, that I can use the links in the field code (e.g.: http://zotero.org/groups/49347/items/2WPIF8DH) and enter them in firefox, what would lead me to the specific information. But I also saw that there is an "ID" in the field code (here: "id":2146).
Is it possible to find this ID in my Zotero library in Firefox?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Daniel
  • The 2146 isn't particularly useful (i.e. I don't know how stable it is - it's definitely not stable across synced computers), but you can also get to the item described by 2WPIF8DH locally using a zotero://select link. I blogged about that and how to get such a link:

    a while ago.

    FWIW - it would be possible to get the ID in a similar way, but as I say, I don't think it would help you much. What are you trying to do more specifically?
  • looking at your other post - if you just want to get to an item in Zotero, if you open the details pop-up of the quick format citation dialog, there is an "Open in My Library" option whenever an item is connected to your local Zotero library.
  • Hi, quick answer thanks so much!

    My database in Zotero grew huge lately. Having several publications from the same author and the same year, makes work harder in the text of an word file (even if identified with a,b,c). Since not all references of that author and year are used in one word file I'm only looking for the quickest way to find out which of his several references is used in the word text. But I think the way to copy the link to the Zotero server is the best way.
    Thanks again!

  • I meant to link to this - I'm talking about the pop-up described under customizing cites here:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage#quick_format_citation_dialog
    (the Open in My Library button isn't mentioned)
