User Defined Categories / Fields (For Notes)

I just began using Zotero (loving it!) and had a suggestion that I would like to bounce off others. I do some web development and have found the Taxonomy (Categories) system in Drupal (www.drupal.org) very useful for managing and filtering content. One of the neat things about the system is you can create new "label categories" to tailor your taxonomy to your specific needs.

This may be something that others would find useful for Zotero.

I am currently working on my thesis (Religious Studies) and am working out how to best use Zotero for the task as I am hoping to use it for bibliography and note taking. Most of my notes fall into two categories: topical and commentary on a passage or verse. Zotero's current tags work great for topical issues. For passages it is only ok.

If I were able to create custom tag fields I could create (1) Book (2) Chapter (3) Verse Range. #1 would be text, #2 and #3 would be numeric.

This sort of setup would be great for narrowing a search for information. I could look for all my notes related to Phil. chapter 2, or specifically Phil. 2:11.

Currently it looks like I will need to be careful in my book abbreviations and chapter/verse annotation as well as verse ranges. This is workable, but custom fields for notes would be a nice addition to add flexibility for those who may need such.

Thanks for your time and great product!
