Zotero Standalone "Library lookup" for journals/magazines

Using Zotero Standalone with Zotero 4.0.8

Don't know how to tell versions of translators....

1. Select a journal article with author
2. Do a "Library Lookup" using green right arrow at the top of the right panel.
3. Zotero uses name of Journal author in lookup?!?

--------------------

None of the half dozen "Magazine" searches that I tried worked at all. I'd select "Library lookup" and nothing seems to happen.

--------------------

It seems that the query to mimic would be the one here:
http://www.worldcat.org/advancedsearch

where you specify the journal name and format as: "Journal, magazine"

The results aren't drilled down quite so far, but they will be right more often.
  • a good resolver - as e.g. many universities libraries have - can point you to the specific holding of a journal or magazine article - that's why the author is included.
The generic worldcat resolver is just a fallback.
  • So, if I'm at a University library, then the lookup would be for that university's library?

If no library is detected, then a WorldCat lookup?
  • basically yes - but for most library you can also enter a specific custom resolver (and in many cases auto-detect that resolver) in the advanced tab of the Zotero preferences.
