Use of unsuperscripted numbers in text

I have two main issues:

1) How do I cite references within my text by unsuperscripted numbers e.g.

The reason for this behaviour has been explained by other authors [1,2].

2) This is related to my first question. Suppose now I have several references, see:

The reason for this behaviour has been explained by other authors [1-6].

How do I place that [1-6] and still be able to generate a correct bibliography at the end of my writeup?

1) The style of the citations in text and in bibliography is determined by whatever style you're using. You have over 6,000 styles to choose from: http://www.zotero.org/styles So pick whatever journal you're writing for and everything should be formatted correctly. If you're not writing for a journal, then we can help you find a style that matches what you need or comes close.

2) You just insert whatever 6 references you need in the text together (add them all from the same insert box) and they will appear in the bibliography correctly.
