Changing bibliographic style in a Word document

I have a paper I am writing with another author, using word. The references are in the paper with Zotero, inserted mainly by the other author. Now I need to reformat the style. I have the Zotero plugin for Word. However, Zotero will not let me reformat the style, because it can't find the references. How do I solve this problem in Zotero?

(In Endnote this problem does not arise, because the full reference text is included in the Word document, and therefore changing the style is easy.)

So the wider question is, How does one work collaboratively on a document with Zotero? Or is this not its strong point?

thank you
  • As far as I know, Zotero does this too (from version 3.0). Are you both using a recent version of Zotero?
  • What fbennet says - by default citation data should be embedded in the document (your co-author should have the "store references in document" box checked in the document preferences of the Zotero Word plugin). For collaboration with others, it is still recommended to use groups which means that references remain linked to the database itself, but it's not necessary.
