Broken Zotero citation markers

The other day I discovered that several published (!) papers contain broken/unparsed Zotero/Mendeley citation markers. Not sure there is anything to troubleshoot here, but it might be worth a look.

See
http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=https://github.com/citation-+style-language/schema/raw&hl=en&as_sdt=0,30
which links to e.g.
http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11528-013-0645-1 (page 2 of the preview, second paragraph)
http://tecnura.udistrital.edu.co/ojs/index.php/revista/article/view/490/481 (page 211; Mendeley marker)
  • Hmm. CMS @ 2.60 says
Editors working on-screen may need to make sure that the source citations and related text are free of any underlying codes generated by the author in creating or organizing them.
    Sounds like good advice.
