Let's assume that I'm entering a Journal article , ugh, manually.
I finally figured out that <tab> would take me to the next field. But since the view is virtually a column, I expected to be able to use the up/down keyboard keys to go to the next field.
The author field is the only one that has two entry fields which are horizontal. I expect to use left/right arrows to switch.

It's not a column, and up and down within text fields are bound to different things on different OSes. On Macs, up/down within a text field is equivalent to home/end.
Tab is the standard way of moving between fields.
