Installing plugins for mac 10.7.5

I am trying to install the plugins for mac word plugin and I get a message that there is no application to open it.
Plugin is zotero 3.5.7.xpi
Mac OS X 10.7.5
Firefox is 20.0

I have the library on zotero in my firefox browser. Now to have the plugins so I can use it with my word documents. Help!

how are you trying to install the plugin? You should just have to download it in Firefox.

Thanks. I was trying to download it from another browser which I normally use. It worked.

Hi, I'm having this problem as well. Trying to download plugin to word 2011 for Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.3. Tried downloading the plugin in both Chrome and then Firefox (after seeing previous comments), also tried opening the plugin in Firefox. Appears to load (no error messages) but when opening word there is no plugin shown.

Have tried downloading again, restarting the system/ word multiple times. No joy! Can anyone help?

that doesn't sound like the same problem then, right? -- you're not getting the "there is no application to open" message, you don't get the Zotero toolbar in Word after installing.
See if you get the items in the Apple Script menu:
https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/no_toolbar_in_word_2008_plugin
and start a new thread, please.

Thank you adamsmith!!!!! I was having trouble also with plugin and once I installed from Firefox browser it worked.
