acm digital library + abstracts (total newbie)
Hello all,
I just started to explore zotero 2 days ago, it's the first program that I am using to help me organize my research readings.
I use the ACM digital library a lot for papers, right now I have two question:
1. I am unable to get the abstracts downloaded automatically (though I can copy and paste them "manually" into the abstract field myself)
2. What is the easiest way to download the associated pdf? Right now I download it to my desktop and then create an attachment.
So I have work-arounds for both items, but I feel there is a much easier way to do these things.
Thanks,
Esmail
ps: Here's a sample link/document which shows how the abstract doesn't get parsed/downloaded - or perhaps this isn't really something zotero does?

Any idea if the abstract problem is simply an oddity of the ACM digital library, or does zotero usually not grab abstracts along with the other information?
I'll check for an update for zotero next day.
You can update manually by clicking Update Now in the General pane of the Zotero prefs.[/quote]
Hi Dan,
thanks that worked, and the abstract now shows, great!! .. and the automatic PDF download did work once I logged in. zotero can't tell if I am logged into the ACM DL, and hence fails in that case. Once I do that it seems to go smoothly.
Unlike the manually downloaded/linked pages which say "view file" here I get "view snapshot" .. seems a bit odd, but it works.
My goal is to view all the tutorial videos and dig into the documentation. Can't wait to learn more about the various features such as indexing etc.
