Syncing problens - Report ID:1554011465

I've been having trouble syncing for now two days. The sync button is continuously spinning but without making any changes on my library online on zotero.org (I have added two new collections in my personal local library).

I also receive the following message each time I restart syncing in zotero: “One or more Zotero tags have been added to and/or removed from items on multiple computers since the last sync. The different sets of tags have been combined.” Report ID: 1554011465
I have worked also on another computer using my account in last days which might explain this message…

I am hesitating to use the reset options : Restore to Zotero Server (erase all server data and overwrite with local Zotero data).

Could you please advise me what to do to solve this problem?

    How about now?
  • Excellent, it is working great now - it is downloading all my items from my personal local library to the online server! Thank you lots for your help.
  • Most of my items from my personal local library are now present on the online server. However two collections present on my personal local library (named EGS ref library and to get) are still appearing empty on my online server. I am not sure what is the problem.
There is no syncing problem notification that appears although the syncing has not been completed...

    Can you please help me?
    Thank you.

Those collections aren't empty on the server as far as I can tell.

Actually, it looks like all but two of the items in those collections are in the trash on the server, having been deleted on May 10th.
  • The collection called "EGS ref library" has 183 items on my personal local library but only 2 items appear on my online server. In addition the collection called "to get" has 9 items on my personal local library but it contains no items on my online server.
I hope this helps to understand the problem?

As for the collections in the trash, I deleted some collections that I had in double.

All the items you say show up in those collections in your local library are on the server in those collections. They're just in the trash, so they don't show up.

If you're fully in sync you shouldn't have that disparity (though it does look like you trashed those items from somewhere on May 10th, even if the deletions somehow got out of sync). If you want I can restore those items from the trash on your online library, which will put them back in those collections.

You can also restore them yourself from the online library, though there are other items in the trash there. Assuming you don't want to restore those other items, you can empty the trash locally (where hopefully those other items show up), sync, and then restore the remainder of trashed items in the online library.
  • Thank you for your help. I have restored them myself from the online library.

I have a last question, I have created a group library a while ago. As a tester I used a folder of items from my personal library and made it into a group library. However I have never managed to open any of the pdf attachments in the group library (although these pdf attachments for same items do open in my personal library). I receive the following message each time I try and open a pdf: "The attached file could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero"
Is it possible to open attached pdfs from group libraries? Is it possible to share pdfs with other people sharing the same group library?

Thank you again for your help!

If it's an open public group, it can't have files. Closed public and private groups can have files.
