Cortex citation style

Hi there - The Cortex citation style seems to be malfunctioning (at least in my version). I'm using Zotero 4.08 and the Word add-in (working document is in microsoft word)

Cortex citation styles should read as follows:
Obhi SS and Hogeveen J. Incidental action observation modulates muscle activity. Experimental Brain Research, 203:427–435, 2010.

The Zotero Cortex citation style creates this:
Obhi SS, Hogeveen J. Incidental action observation modulates muscle activity. Experimental Brain Research. 2010 May 8;203(2):427–35.

Also, the Zotero style defaults to using the abbreviated journal name if one is entered into the field (there should be no abbreviation). I also noted that the automatic abbreviation really messes things up (not necessary for the document, just an FYI).

Are you able to fix the Zotero style to save me an evening of deleting full stops and tabs and months etc?

Thanks!
  • Since it's not come out in the comment above, there's an extra <tab> before the start of the journal name as well
  • I'll take a look at this tomorrow. Don't bother manually changing bibliography. You can just continue writing with whichever style you want and then change it to the correct style in the end (once it's ready).

    @adamsmith
Any chance you know a style that comes close? I tried the Search by Example tool, but it wasn't very helpful (maybe there's actually nothing close). If not, this doesn't look too bad to make.

The guide is here btw: http://www.elsevier.com/journals/cortex/0010-9452/guide-for-authors

So according to Elsevier the style is supposed to follow vancouver-author-date (and it's the only style that does), but based on the author guide, it clearly does not. Makes me wonder how reliable is this list provided by Elsevier.
  • Yeh, I looked around for a style that was close, without very much luck. Cortex have a endnote style file on their website I think which might be useful, but I had no joy with importing that
  • You can't use EndNote styles with Zotero.
  • that's a really odd style. Journal of Neurophysiology is somewhat close for articles, but any style you look at will need a fair amount of work.

We did a good amount of random checking on the Elsevier list and it looked good, this would seem like an exception.
  • The style is now up. It will appear on the style repository within 30mins.. (See here if you need instructions for installing styles in standalone.)

Styles should also update automatically within 24hs for Zotero 4.0+

Any further problems please let us know.
