How to sync pdf annotations?

Needing to annotate PDFs I´m glad I found zotfile to supplement my zotero (firefox).

Once I highlight text using my external pdf programme (PDF-Xchange) I can extract annotations with zotfile. And when I save the PDF I also see the annotations back the next time I open the same doc in zotero / pdfxchange.

However, in Zotero´s online library I just see the original PDF, unfortunately without any of the annotations done. Is there a way to sync these?

    annotations should sync - if the "date modified" changes on saving the annotations (and it does using pdf-Xchange for me), the file should sync.
    Are you positive that the annotations really aren't in the file online, and this isn't just a failure to display them by whatever pdf viewer you use in Firefox (pdf.js I assume)?
    In other words, have you tried downloading the file from your online library and opening it with pdfXchange?

    The pdf viewer is indeed the issue - when downloading and reopening the PDF with pdfXchange the annotations are there. MANY THANKS!

    FWIW, my understanding is that mozilla is working on improving annotation support in pdf.js (Firefox's built-in PDF viewer), so there's a good chance this will work in the future, but that's entirely independent of Zotero.
