Citing Number and Volume...how do users do it?

Hi, I've been playing around with Zotero and trying to get it to cite Number and Volume when referencing periodicals. When citing this article (for example), I've found that Zotero doesn't seem to reference the Volume Field. I've found that I can pull in the relevant information in the correct order by entering the Volume value into >Series, and the Number value into >Volume, e.g.: Michel Foucault and Jay Miskowiec
Diacritics , Vol. 16, No. 1 (Spring, 1986), pp. 22-27. I'm using MHRA.

Has anyone else used a similar workaround when trying to reference Volume, Number?
  • If you need the issue number plus the volume, just modify the style:

  • That looks very complicated! (but thanks for the heads up)

Which style is this? This doesn't look like MHRA for journal articles at all. MHRA doesn't cite issue numbers, in line with 11.2.4

    The current MHRA style produces:
Michel Foucault and Jay Miskowiec, ‘Of Other Spaces’, Diacritics, 16 (1986), 22–27.

which is exactly how it should look.
  • Hi Adam, thanks for spotting that - I've been mistaken in thinking you had to attribute Volume and Number with MHRA references.
