Zotero Standalone will not Sync

I have Zotero Standalone, along with a Chrome and LibreOffice Extension on my laptop. Standalone has not Synced for more than 30 days. I have attempted on multiple networks, and with security systems turned off. When my initial sync attempt fails, I get this error message:

SSL certificate error connecting to sync.zotero.org

See http://zotero.org/support/kb/ssl_certificate_error for more information.

When I go to https://sync.zotero.org/ as recommended, I see "Nothing to see here."

I have attempted this on various networks, at my university, my home, and elsewhere, all with the same problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Zotero as well.

I get another error when I try to report the error, I get the note that

"The following errors have occurred since starting Zotero:

sync.zotero.org:443 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

[repeated errors removed — D.S]

repo.zotero.org:443 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

[JavaScript Error: "Error: SSL certificate error connecting to sync.zotero.org

See http://zotero.org/support/kb/ssl_certificate_error for more information." {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 638}]"

Basically, the same error, and it's happening a lot.

I am at a loss, and would appreciate any help.

    1) Are you connecting via a proxy server in these locations?

    2) Have you tried going to https://sync.zotero.org in multiple browsers?

    3) In a browser where that works, can you verify the SSL certificate fingerprint for the page? In Firefox, click on the lock icon at the left end of the address bar, More Information, View Certificate. At the bottom, check that MD5 Fingerprint is equal to this:

    F1:DE:8E:37:68:BF:E8:EC:5F:A7:A7:F9:9E:1F:1C:F8
If it's not, could you go to the Details tab, click Export at the bottom, choose "X.509 Certificate with chain (PKCS#7)", and email the resulting file at support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?

If that is the fingerprint you see, can you confirm that you have the latest version of Zotero Standalone, 4.0.3?

You have malware on your computer, possibly in the form of the "E-Rewards Notify" app. It's intercepting all of your encrypted traffic, which has the side effect of breaking Zotero Standalone.
