Open CSL Editor/Preview

Hi,
I don't know exactly what these two buttons do(in preferences -> advanced). I opened CSL edit, and made some changes in csl code of a style, but there is no facilities to save the changes. I just received an error -> No references selected in Zotero.

can any one help?
