Having to reactivate Zotero in Firefox at every restart

I work on four different computers at work and home. On two of them, everytime I turn on/restart the computer and start Firefox, neither Zotero nor the word plugin is working. I get windows asking if I want to install those, which requires restarting Firefox after Zotero and after the Word plugin are activated. My other two computers never have this problem and Zotero and the plugin are always ready after turn on/restart. 3 of the computers are Windows XP and one is Vista. Problem ones are one of the XPs and the Vista. Any ideas?

what's the exact message you're getting? I don't think I have ever heard this before. Do you have other firefox add-ons working normally on those machines?
  • OK, I just turned on both computers. Once they are up, I click on Firefox. It comes up with several open frames (tabs at the top of the page). The four tabs are all titled "Install Add-on." Two of them are for Zotero (Zotero itself and the Word add-on). At this point Firefox does not show any add-ons. I click on the two zotero tabs one at a time and have to click on "install" and then "restart firefox." Once both zotero and the Word add-on are installed they work fine until the computers are restarted, and then you do the whole thing over again.

My two other computers have no problem.
  • that sounds like something is going on with your add-ons in Firefox that's entirely unrelated to Zotero (beyond the fact that Zotero is a FF add-on). I'd ask mozilla support.
  • @olin Are you using the new FF private browsing?
