Upgrade StorageZotero is permanently offline

I installed Zotero standalone and the extension for Safari but the Zotero button can not be clicked and permanently shows "Zotero is offline". Consequently, I'm unable to add data from the Internet, except for booktitles from amazon.
Does anybody know how to get Zotero online?
