[MLZ] Visual CSL Editor keeps crashing

I'm trying to edit one of the MLZ legal styles with the Visual CSL Editor (http://editor.citationstyles.org/visualEditor/), but the Visual Editor keeps crashing. I'm assuming it's because the MLZ legal styles are more complex than the Visual Editor can handle. Is there any remedy for this?
  • the issue likely isn't complexity, but that the MLZ-extended CSL scheme isn't supported by the visual editor, so you'd be using things that simply don't exist for the editor. I don't think there is a remedy for that, no.
  • With a bit of work, it is possible to set up a version of the visualEditor based on the extended schema (new nickname "CSL-m"). I plan to set that up and get it online eventually. Meanwhile, you'll have to edit styles by hand.

I should soon at least have an online validator working for CSL-m, so you can check that your changes are grammatically correct. I'll try to remember to post back here when it's up. Feel free to ping the thread if you don't hear anything within a week or so.
  • Thanks to Simon's work, an online validator for CSL-m styles is up now:

    http://fbennett.github.com/csl-validator.js/

I'll be making some further formatting adjustments to avoid risk of confusion with Simon's validator for official CSL, but the new site works fine.

The CSL-m schema is more strict about some things. It will report errors in styles from the official CSL repository, but the styles from http://citationstylist.org should validate successfully here.
  • @fbennett,

Thanks! That was a really quick turnaround.
