copy/paste text including reference - macosx-LO 3.6.5-zotera standalone

Am I missing something?

I have a document with references inserted.

When I copy the text including the references (FIELD) and paste that elsewhere it loses the reference information (FIELD) and is simply text.

I have tried various citation formats and possible special paste choices.

Nothing works.

I am no doubt missing something. Is this a feature or a bug or do I have something set up wrong?

    If you're pasting into the same document, that's a feature/limitation of LibreOffice/OpenOffice that Zotero can't do anything about (FWIW cut&paste works). In Word that should work.

    If you're pasting into a different document that should work for any word processor, though if that document doesn't have any Zotero references inserted you need to either insert one citation or select a citation style via set document preferences before pasting.
