firefox connector for Zotero 3.0.13 standalone in Xubuntu 12.04.1

Yesterday I installed Zotero 3.0.13 according to apt-get sequence in

This morning, Zotero's save-icon is not visible in http location-bar for sites that always show the save icon (eg, books.google.com).

How do I install Zotero's Firefox connector for 3.0.13 standalone in computer running Xubuntu 12.04.1?

you also need to install the Firefox plugin:
www.zotero.org/download
the ppa is only for the Standalone version, by itself it won't show url bar icons.

Thanks for the prompt reply. A FF-add-ons search for Zotero brings forth Zotero 3.0.11. Will that work with an already installed "standalone" 3.0.13?

it will, but don't install from mozilla - you'll always lag behind on updates.
Just use the link on www.zotero.org/download

I installed FF-Zotero-3.0.13 from http://www.zotero.org/download. Restarted FF, restarted Zotero "standalone" 3.0.13. Two different urls tested. Zotero's download icon remains unseen in location bar in FF.

I tried a restart. Still no Zotero icon in location bar in FF. I moused over Zotero word in lower right of FF and saw the message that "The Zotero data directory could not be found." However, when I open Z "standalone", my data file is present and functioning (aside from FF's current non-usability.How do I fix FF's Z-icon function so that Z in FF finds and uses the "standalone" data file?

That helped. Z-icon is now visible in location bar. Is my computer now having two Z data-files? One in FF, another in Z "standalone"?

I'd just try it out - disable auto sync (in the sync tab of the preferences) create an item in Zotero for Firefox, close Zotero for Firefox , open Standalone and see if it's there. If it is the two are sharing a data directory. If it's not they aren't and you'd likely want to fix that by pointing one of them to the data directory of the other.
