group libraries and dropbox

I have successfully shared a group library with another colleague; the only problem is that he cannot open the pdf attachments.

My attachments are stored in dropbox and he has my dropbox zotero folder synced to his laptop. Also, in his zotero preferences "data directory location", it shows the path to the zotero folder on his laptop.

The only thing I can think of is that I have a paid dropbox account with lots of storage while his is not large enough for all of my attachments. Maybe he needs to upgrade his dropbox storage?

I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
  • You should check if he can download the files using Dropbox website. Tell him to go to

    https://www.dropbox.com/home

and then search for one of the files that he cannot open.

The way Dropbox works is that if you share a folder with someone, then the shared folder will count against the other persons storage space too. So he might need to upgrade.

But since you are spending money on this, it might be better to just buy some more storage space from Zotero directly. Group storage is counted only towards the group owner, so any people that you invite as members will get access to the documents regardless of how much space they have in their Zotero accounts.
