SSRN translator for Chrome (Zotero Connector) not working

I've gone through all the troubleshooting measures, but Zotero Connector still can't translate the following article.

No problem with Firefox's translator. I use MLZ by the way, if that matters.

Fixed in 3.0.12 (should be released within a week or so)

Not much you can do about it right now besides using Zotero for Firefox
  • we're aware of that, thanks - should have it fixed shortly.
  • I'm on Windows, not Mac.
  • read the thread - same issue.
  • That doesn't really matter. It's the same issue. Since this is MLZ, Frank Bennett could fix this before 3.0.12 release, so I guess it's up to him.
  • (Unless I'm misunderstanding this, we should also be able to fix this by making the SSRN translator compatible with Chrome, no?)
  • Sorry for the double posts, but since you are using MLZ (and have Firefox open) you should be able to import just fine from Firefox.

@adamsmith, yes, but it doesn't look to be compatible with Chrome http://zotero-translator-tests.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/testTranslators.html#date=2013-02-01&browser=c&version=3.0.SOURCE.13a2bb9

I don't immediately see why though. I'll look into it.
  • Pushed an update that should fix Chrome issues, but will wait for tests to run before enabling it for Chrome. Basically, at least until tomorrow, this will not be resolved (unless Simon or Dan run the tests sooner)
  • @wonblee: With httpServer enabled in Firefox/MLZ, that link downloads okay here from Chrome. If it's not working for you, you might try updating translators (gear menu -> General -> Update).
  • Dear All:

I'm using zotero 3.0.14 standalone on Win7 x64. I can save articles from SSRN to my library, but for some time now the abstract text is cut of after a couple words. Hence, I always copy the complete abstract into the abstract field. Is this a known issue?

    Thanks!

thanks for pointing that out. We get the abstract text from the "description" field in the site header. I'll see if I can get my SSRN contacts to include the full abstract there, else we'll get it from the page. I'll let you know.

edit: they'll take some time to look at this - I should have more for you by the middle of next week.
  • abstracts now import completely from SSRN:
Your version of Zotero will automatically update within 24hs, or you can update manually using the "Update Now" button in the "General" tab of the Zotero preferences.

Any further problems let us know & thanks for reporting
  • I am afraid your standalone update for windows has broken my Chrome connector which was working just fine before I upgraded. Now I often cannot see any icons in the browser bar and when I do clicking on them looks like it is saving, but the item does not make it into the library. Disappointing.
  • Please start a new thread (this one is about the SSRN site specifically) and run through this

if steps 1-10 don't help, provide the information requested under 11.
