Cross-platform file links

I would like to use the same Zotero database to manage my references on multiple computers running different OS's. I am able to mirror my files just fine on the different computers, but the problem comes with file links. If I take a snapshot of a page with Zotero on my Linux machine, then try to access the snapshot on a windows machine, the path wouldn't be right so I wouldn't be able to access it. Has anyone encountered/dealt with this problem?

Thanks in advance, Brian

If you store all your files in Zotero's storage folder you should be able to access the attachments from any of the machines.
  • What you describe—accessing imported snapshots across platforms—should work fine, since the paths are stored relative to the Zotero storage directory.

There's not currently a way to access files/snapshots stored outside of the Zotero storage directory across platforms, but there have been requests for storing relative paths from a configurable root directory. I don't know how we'd store arbitrary links not relative to a particular directory across platforms, though.
