Copy text from Zotero managed docx to another docx

Hello,

I have a Microsoft Word 2011 document (*.docx) that has 130+ references including a bibliography at the end, all managed by Zotero 3.0.11. The Document Preferences are using Microsoft Word Fields, and "Store references in document" checked.

Now, there are big chunks of the document (including most of the references) that I would like to copy into another *.docx file. This second file is currently NOT managed by Zotero.

My goal is that I can copy text over to this second file, while retaining Zotero management and the integrity of the managed references, bibliography, etc.

Is this possible? If so, what is the best procedure for doing so? Thank you so much.
  • you need to set the citation style of the document you're going to copy _into_. I.e. either insert one citation with Zotero or click on Set Document preferences, pick a citation styles and click OK.

Then you can just copy and paste and this will just work.
  • Ah I see. This is much easier than I thought. Thank you so much! I will report back in case there are any issues.
