Editing citations with Word 2011 for MAC

Hello, I've searched the discussion forum for something on this topic but haven't found an answer to my question. Since I upgraded to the new version of Zotero I've found my options for editing citations is constrained. When I select "edit citation" the pop-up window allows me to add page numbers, suppress author, etc, but I can't edit the text of the citation--ie, remove a final period, or change the bracket style to square brackets (for citations within round brackets). I only need to make these changes to occasional citations, so changing the code of the citation style doesn't really help me. Hoping you can propose some work-arounds. I'm using Word 2011 for MAC, latest version of Zotero, Chicago style.
  • you can just edit in Word directly, that has the same function as using the "Show Editor" window had before.
You can also use the old "classic" edit citation dialog by clicking on the little arrow on the left of the quick format citation bar.
