Standalone fails to sync local data to web server

Error Report ID 633552763

When I attempt to force a sync between my local data in Zotero Standalone 3.0.11.1 for Windows 7, I get the follow error:

Note '<p><img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAApMAAAHrCAIAAAAc7YGb...' too long
it then fails to finish syncing correctly. Given that I have added over 300 local references since this started happening, I am loath to jsut wipe the local data clean and re-download from the server. Suggestions on how to resolve this error so I can sync my library and collections would be greatly appreciated.
  • I should also perhaps point out that I tried the "Check Database integrity" feature in Options -> Advanced -> Database Maintenance. The system said there were errors, I told it to fix them, it said it had and that it needed to restart Zotero. I did so. Error still present upon forcing sync.
  • you have a note with an embedded image that's too long for sync - search for "iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEU" and either delete the whole note, empty your trash, and sync again, or just delete the image in the note and sync again.
  • I have tried that but it doesn't return a search result, either by selecting Everything as a drop down in the regular search box top right of the library window, or by using Advanced Search and searching on that String on every content type available (with options Match Any of the Following; and with "Search Subcollections" and "include parent & child" selected with checkbox"). Is there anotehr way to find the offending image?
  • have you tried emptying your Zotero trash (bottom of the left hand pane) and syncing? A search wouldn't find an item in the trash afaik. Otherwise, the "Everything" search should really do.

If that doesn't help, provide a debug ID after a failed manual sync (i.e. pressing the round green arrow):
    http://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output
Dan might be able to give you more on what to look for with that
  • I don't think we need debug output for this. If you're getting that message, the item still exists, possibly in the trash, in one of your libraries.
