how to get rid of quotation marks around "interview titles" in Chicago Style

I have a question about using zotero when citing interviews (that I have conducted). Under "Title" I put the interviewee's name, the organization they work for, the location of the interview, and the phrase 'interview by author'. In citations, this all comes out with quotation marks around it -- which I don't want. It looks like this: "Joe Smith, Greenpeace, New York, interview by author," June 11, 2012. (I am suppressing the "Author" field, because otherwise, it ends up like this: Joe Smith, "Joe Smith, Greenpeace, New York, interview by author," June 11, 2012.) How can I get rid of these quotation marks?

I tried entering 'Greenpeace, New York, interview by author' into the "Medium" field (instead of the Title field) and NOT suppressing the author, but then the "interview with" name (i.e. the interviewee's name) is not followed by a comma (which it should be, to separate the name from the information about the person - Greenpeace, etc. - found in the "medium" field). I then tried adding a comma to the "last name" field - which works in the footnote - but is likely going to be wrong in the bibliography.

Is there a way to get rid of the quotation marks that surround the title? Using "edit citation" doesn't let you modify the title, as far as I can see. Other ideas?
  • we should remove the quotation marks in the style - they're never used for interviews in CMoS - I'll let you know when that's done, might take a little bit, just keep doing what you're doing and you can update your citations automatically once we have the style fixed.
  • Thank you, Adam! I don't actually know how to update my citations automatically, but perhaps you can clue me in to that after the quotation marks have been removed from the style. Much appreciated.
  • The style is now fixed. The updated version will appear on the repository within 30mins (check the timestamp). Update your copy of the style by re-installing it from the repository. (See here if you need instructions for installing styles in standalone.)
