Auto update citation styles

I know Dan has mentioned that this was generally intended. The lack of auto-updating for citation styles causes a non-insignificant amount of confusion, even among experienced users - see the latest example here: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/26658/unified-style-sheet-for-linguistics-period-problem/#Item_6

What needs to happen for us to allow auto-updating of citation styles? I'd really like to see this implemented soon.
