Suggestion: Default Folder for RIS imports

It would be really helpful to be able to designate a specific "folder" as the default for all new RIS imports. So when working on a given project (paper) you designate that project's folder as the "default" and any new imports, instead of getting put into a folder like "citation(1)" get put into the designated, "default" folder.

As it is, every import takes 5 steps:
1) import
2) open Zotero
3) Find the newly imported citation
4) drag it to the desired folder
5) delete the now useless original folder location
  • something along those lines is planned (probably just import RIS into the currently selected collection).
That said - why are you importing lots of small RIS files? That should be the exception, not something you do all the time.
  • For me it's the common way to operate... Find a journal on JSTOR or Google Scholar / Books, both of which have a "import" endnote option, which creates a RIS file...
How else would I go about it? Type all the bibliographic info in myself?
  • no, of course not typing it in, but, yes, this suggests you're misunderstanding how Zotero works:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/getting_stuff_into_your_library
use the Web translator, aka the URL bar icon
this works great for JSTOR and GS, among many others.
  • sure, but using the URL bar icon still has the same issue doesn't it? The new zotero entry doesn't go where I want it.
  • It goes into the collection ("folder") you have selected in Zotero.
