Unable to search for a single word in smart quotes
Zotero's search does not seem to find examples of a single word in smart quotes. I was able to get the document to appear in search results by adding spaces between the smart quotes and the word. A word next to a single smart quote will also be found.
To be specific, my search would not return the document when searching for the word [aura] in the following sentence:
Benjamin uses the term “aura” to describe what is lost in the process of detaching the work of art from its context, its place in the “fabric of tradition,” which is closely tied to its “ritual function” (7).
However, it did find the word [beauty] in this sentence:
Art was first created in the service of ritual, and Benjamin argues that it continues to serve this function in the secular “cult of beauty” (7).
There is probably a way to search for a word in quotes (by escaping the quote marks), but I'm troubled that a search for the word by itself (without the quote marks) wouldn't return the document.
I created the document in Word 2008 on a Mac using OSX's "Save as PDF" tool.

In the meantime, you can technically fix this by setting extensions.zotero.search.useLeftBound to false in about:config (either by going to about:config in the Firefox address bar or via the button in the Advanced pane of the Zotero preferences). Note, though, that depending on the size of your database, that may slow down full-text searches.
We'll post here when this is fixed, at which point, if you have changed that setting, you can set it back to the default.
