I am interested in Zotero Reference Manager Software for my user and wish to know the cost of installation and maintenance to me as the system administrator.

    just a client, the server is run centrally by Zotero. You should probably just try it out yourself - seeing that it's free and all - and see if you think it's worth it for your users.

    That would depend on your requirements -- if you require secure synchronisation and sharing within a single institution or cluster of users, you would need to look into running the Zotero server software, and that would take some work. The client software is dead simple to install and run. As adamsmith says, you can just go ahead and install it locally to investigate its capabilities. You don't need to server or even an account on zotero.org to run it.
