Syncing behind company firewall needs "check for updates" first

Dear Zotero:

we're very happy with your performance, you're a great product!
One thing that has happened lately, possibly after Mac OS Mountain Lion update, is that syncing fails in the stand-alone application (red exclamation mark).
Solution:
Selecting Zotero>Check for Updates… brings up an authentication dialog. Confirming the entries there looks for updates. And after that, syncing works!

So it seems that syncing does not realise a firewall proxy needs to be activated first. 'twould be nice if this could be addressed in your future updates.
