Solution: Libreoffice and Zotero Standalone communication in Linux Mint 13 with MATE 64 bit

This is out of the ordinary, but I wanted to pre-emptively report a bug and a solution. Similar to what has happened with KDE + Libreoffice, Zotero doesn't communicate with the version of Libreoffice included with Linux Mint 13 MATE. (I know it does with Mint 13 with Cinnamon).

My solution to this problem was to remove the included version of Libreoffice (3.4.5.2, I believe) and install Libreoffice directly from the Document Foundation (documentfoundation.org).

After that, Zotero Standalone integrates with Libreoffice (3.6.2.2).

Again, this seems similar to what's happening here: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/20096/zotero-ubuntu-1110-and-libreoffice/

I hope anyone else who has this trouble finds this post.
