display of zotero in browser window - toolbar cut off

Since I am working with two screens the zoteror-toolbar of zotero is cut off in my browser window on my laptop screen. This means when I open zotero in my browser window in my laptop (even if the projector is disconnected) I cannot see / click the 'sync' 'toogle' and the 'close button' anymore which makes it very difficult to work.
Moreover the edit window below is also 'too big for the screen' i.e. I can not see or use the the 'minus and plus' sign any more. I disconnected the big screen, minimized maximized the browser window, uninstalled zotero - to no avail. This means I can not really work with zotero anymore when I am not dragging the browser window into the projector screen which is a drag!! I appreciate every help
  • The larger issue sounds to me like a monitor set-up problem and not a Zotero issue - Zotero doesn't do anything unusual. You should have your monitors set up in a way that the resolution switches appropriately when switching between monitors (or disconnecting one of them). How to do that depends on your operating system and you're probably better off asking that on a general forum for your OS.

As for fixing/resizing Zotero on your laptop - I'd look into keyboard shortcuts - both for Zotero and for windows management (the latter once again depend on the OS you're using.

thanks a lot - I understand the rationale of your suggestions, However zotero is the only application which does not 'resize' properly and adjusts to the resolution - everything else is just working fine. so i am not sure what i should change in my monitor set up... it is really just zotero - even if the projector is disconnected it does not adjust to the laptop screen anymore. I looked at zotero shortcuts and I they can help me to close zotero or to go into toogle mode even if I do not see the buttons on the toolbar anymore but I did not find anything regarding resizing the edit window. Anyhow i will try everything I can think of and will post the outcome.

It sounds like you're using Zotero for Firefox, though, right? In that case, if Zotero doesn't resize that means Firefox isn't resizing either, or am I missing something?

thanks for your advice - i tried everything regarding minimizing and maximizing, zoom (with clicking and shortcuts) before I bothered the forum nothing helps. And yes I use zotero in firefox: and firefox adjusts just fine in every mode, window and screen but the zotero window remains too big in my laptop screen ( I wish I could send you a screen shot but somhow I can not past them in here). I tried also every resolution and adjust option for my monitors. the only thing i did not do is to uninstall firefox AND zotero. that is what i will do now. i am really out of my wits. and people who tried to help with the adjustment of the screens can not think of anything else to do ... because it is just zotero which does not adjust (normally a very nice character trait but not within this context)

What's the resolution of your laptop screen?
