No address bar icon

I just recently installed Zotero and there's no icon in the address bar. I've visited Amazon, the New York Times, and the Gutenberg Project, but still didn't get anything. I've checked the Zotero preferences, but I didn't see anything about the address bar icon in the settings. Any suggestions?
  • Can you open the Zotero pane? (click the Zotero logo in the bottom right corner of the browser window)
  • I am having that problem too. I can open the zotero fine, and my library is full and working fine, but I don't get the address bar icon anywhere. I also don't get the links on the google scholar results page to import things.

    I'm using ff 2.0.0.14 on ubuntu 8.04

any ideas? thanks for zotero and the great support forums, I use it so much
  • Does the problem persist if you restart Firefox? If it does, you might try resetting your translator's and sytles. Click the actions menu, select preferences from the drop down, then click on advanced. You should see the "Reset Translators and Styles" button half way down the screen. See if that resolves the issue.
  • thanks for your reply tjownens. Resetting translators didn't fix it, but it inspired me to investigate a little further.

It turns out that it was something about my library. I installed zotero on a different computer and pointed it to my network-mounted storage location, and had the same problem. "Check database integrity" told me that I had errors in my db which I hadn't noticed because all the data seemed fine.

To solve the problem, I exported my library, uninstalled and reinstalled zotero (probably unnecessary), and then imported the file I had just exported. Now things are working great.

    thanks for a great tool
