Exported references highlighted in word document

Hi, I have exported references from zotero in a microsoft word document. They are highlighted in the word document. I can not get rid of the highlighting - could you pls assist? thanks SA

    Look for an option in the View pane of the Word preferences entitled "Field shading". You can set it to always highlight, never highlight, or only highlight when the fields are selected. Note that, regardless of the setting, the shading won't show up when you print the document.

    Thanks for your quick response. Under View, I do not have any options for word preferences. Only text size, page style. I have also been wondering how to insert special letters such as umlats and e acutes into the citations and notes. I imagine this might be related to the highlighting - as I have not been able to work out how to make any text changes while in Zotero. SA

    The View tab of the Word preferences—not the Firefox View menu.
