Why can't a report have an editor?
I would like to cite http://www.ipcc.ch/publications_and_data/publications_ipcc_fourth_assessment_report_wg1_report_the_physical_science_basis.htm. It explicitly says to cite the 8 *editors* (no authors). There are no series editors here.
It's clearly a report, I don't see how it fits under any other item type, except the catchall "document", which is missing a bunch of other useful fields, like "series title" (which in this case would be "Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis").
There seem to me to be a bunch of these odd restrictions on various item types that are not necessary. Is there any way of working around this, that retains sensible metadata? Will these field options be more general in the future?

And no there is no viable workaround short of citing this as a book (which might work nicely).

editor for reports e.g. is here: https://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/issues/31
This isn't final and you can post to the thread pinned to the top of the forum with additional thoughts and requests (though please read ajlyon's initial post on the first page for guidance) - that's a better place for an initial discussion, once we've got some basic understanding we can move it to a github ticket.
In the mean time, you can enter editors for Reports in the Extra field like this:
editor: Last || First, I.
