zotero standalone using online storage as primary library
sorry in advance if this is a bad question - i searched discussion posts & couldn't find an answer.
i use zotero standalone & have a laptop with limited memory. i would like to keep a back-up of my zotero library on an external drive & use the zotero online storage on a day-to-day basis.
is this possible? looking at the preferences/advanced tab, it appears that the data dictionary location needs to be accessible for standalone to work. thus, i would have to always have my external drive connected (which i'd like to avoid).
so, as i see it, my idea of working off of online storage for standalone is not feasible.
am i missing something?
thanks in advance for any replies...

adamsmithno, you're not missing anything. Zotero requires local storage, you can't run it off of online storage.
