Empty Response from Server

I've recently returned from a few months of research leave, and it seems that something has gone wrong with my standalone account on my University machine. I can still sync perfectly on my home desktop (which I also hadn't used for a number of months) and I'm confident that everything is updated. The error report is 813940174. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my main work station now that I am back home.
  • This could indicate a problem with your university network or security software on the computer.

Restart your computer and, if it still happens, provide a Debug ID for a sync attempt that fails.
  • It is still happening. I'm pretty sure I did the debug ID right, but I haven't done one before so apologies if this is wrong/not what you're looking for - D539600925
  • In a web browser on that machine, what happens if you load https://sync.zotero.org ?
  • It goes to a page with "Nothing to see here." written in small black text.

It seems that it's developed a new problem. I should point out that I work in a shared office with four machines and simply take whichever one is free at any given time. The error listed above is on my regular machine, however I am using a different one today and this time the sync error as as follows - "SSL certificate error connecting to sync.zotero.org

    See http://zotero.org/support/kb/ssl_certificate_error for more information"

When I try and report this error it tells me that there is an "Invalid response from repository"
  • Are these computers and this network under the control of an IT department? Is there a chance that that IT department installed custom SSL certificates in the available browsers and are intercepting all SSL traffic on the network?

In your browser, click on the lock icon and click around to get to the certificate details. (How to do this will differ by browser.) Somewhere or other you should see Common Name, Organization, and MD5 Fingerprint. What are the values for those?
