batch import SciDirect citation files from local folder

Apologies if this has been addressed somewhere else in the forum - I searched but couldn't find a thread. I cannot get Zotero to import ScienceDirect citation files directly from the journal web page (as is possible for e.g., Wiley journals), so I now have a folder on my local drive of 143 citation files. Zotero seems to only let me import one at a time. There has to be a better way! Is there a way to batch upload citations from a local folder, either through Zotero or using a Zotero app? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance, Dan
  • there is no way to batch import citation files no.
What format are they in? RIS?
In that case you could see if you can search for a script that just puts a bunch of text files into one single text file - doesn't have to be anything citation/reference related.
You can then import the whole file into Zotero.

I'd start by solving this, though:

What exactly doesn't work? - Sciencedirect should work reliably with Zotero using the URL bar icon.
  • Thanks for the feedback. I was able to concatenate the 143 files into one using the DOS "copy" command and import the single file as you suggested.

As for importing SciDirect citations using the URL bar, it appears to be a problem with the IE Tab Plus plugin for Firefox. Not sure why I was using that to read SciDirect web pages, but once I went back to Firefox, the "Save to Zotero" icon appeared in the URL bar and I was able to import correctly, including the abstract.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
