retreiving zotero info after having to data recovery on macbook

Hi it seems that I have no way in which I can get any information onto my new Zotero database...Can anyone help? My computer crashed and I don't know how to retrieve the correct data into the new update..

Use the migration assistant to restore your settings.

You will get a better answer if you explain what you mean by 'crashed' and what kind of backups you have (if any).

Hi Thanks,

My Macbook crashed due to coffee spill and upgraded to Mac Pro 2.9Ghz i7.I was running and older Firefox version and this only allowed minimal interaction with Zotero in tems of screengrabs, saving of links and notes.

The recovery on the hardrive was 100% and resulted in a Zotero file filled with:

locate
pipes
storage
styles
translators
zotero.sqlite
zotero.sqlite-journal
zotero.sqlite.1.bak
zotero.sqlite.bak

Resolved:

Open the Advanced pane of the Zotero preferences and click “Show Data Directory”. This should reveal a directory containing zotero.sqlite and possibly a 'storage' subdirectory. Close Firefox or Zotero Standalone and move zotero.sqlite and 'storage' from this folder into a temporary folder on your desktop. Next, copy—don't move—zotero.sqlite and 'storage' from your backup into the active data directory. When you now reopen Firefox or Zotero Standalone, your Zotero library should be restored.
