getting references into Zotero from existing documents

Hi
I've some documents (Word, StarOffice) that have bibliographies I'd like to import into Zotero. I created a .html file (StarOffice) and opened that in FireFox, but Zotero did not recognize it - presumably it lacked some key metadata.

Any suggestions how I can upload an already typed bibliography?
