Chrome Connect - Icon does not appear?

Hi all,
Just installed Zotero Standalone for Mac (10.6.8), and the connector for Chrome (version 21.0.1180.79). However, I have yet to see the Zotero icon appear on any web page, be it scholar, pubmed, other databases, NYT, etc. I have uninstalled and re-installed the connector, restarted the browser, tried to update everything... basically all I could think of with my limited tech knowledge. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
  • If you click the wrench in Chrome, go to Tools->Extensions, and click the "Options" button next to the Zotero Connector, do you see any errors?
  • do you see the Zotero Connector installed in Chrome under
    Tools --> Extensions?
    Do you have Zotero Standalone running? What do you see when, in Chrome, under Tools --> Extensions you click "Options" under the Zotero Connector? Is standalone listed as available?

    And just so we're sure you're really not seeing an icon:
    Go here:
    http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/kommentar-zum-urteil-gegen-die-pussy-riot-a-850673.html
    You're not seeing a newspaper icon at the right of the URL bar, right next to the "Bookmark this Page" star?
  • @Simon:
    there is this -
    [JavaScript Error: "Missing property "translatorID" in translator metadata JSON object in undefined" {file: "chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/zotero/connector/translator.js" line: 403}]

    @adamsmith:
    The connector is installed and appears in the list of chrome extensions, standalone is running, and chrome says it is available. Still no icon on that link, or any other.

    Thanks for the troubleshooting help, folks.

  • Close Chrome. In Zotero standalone, in the advanced tab of the preferences, click "Reset Translators".
    Restart Zotero, open Chrome. This should work then.
  • Works like a charm! Thanks so much, this is very exciting! Now to spend my whole day organizing citations...
  • I have a similar situation and but the shutting down of Chrome and the resetting of the translater in Zotero Standalone doesn't resolve the issue. I still do not have a Zotero icon in Chrome

    Thanks
