Merging duplicates of different types

At the moment it won't let you merge duplicates of different types. I understand why it's impossible to strictly "merge" such items, but it would be great if it gave you the option to delete one and replace all references to the deleted one with a reference to the kept one. Perhaps it could pop up a dialogue giving you the details of the two and asking which you wanted to keep. My Zotero library certainly has several such pairs of duplicate items of different types (e.g. one a "report" one a journal article).
