Zotero could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor.
I greatly enjoy Zotero and use the stand alone version on a Mac Book.
However, after Mountain Lion (dont know if its the upgrade per se) I receive the message below:
"Zotero could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate extension is installed and try again."
Yesterday I reinstalled Zotero, and inserting references etc in a word doc again worked fine, but I receive the same error message today when opening the same doc.
I use Word for Mac 2011, Version 14.2.3. (120616).

ewnZOtero and Word seem to cooperate fine if i open Firefox. I use Chrome as default.

ewnAfter reinstalling again, updating both Firefox and Chrome, reinstalling the word processor plug-in from within Zotero, all is well (for now) . I guess having the lastest version of everything is crucial. It seems to need some manual updating

ewnNow the same error message again: "Zotero could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate extension is installed and try again." Any ideas anyone?

SimonProvide a report ID after re-triggering the error.

ewnAfter installing Zotero stand-alone OK, but after closing and restarting Zotero stand-alone , add-ons manager under Tools, says " all add-ons have been disabled by safe-mode". If I use Zotero in Firefox all is well.

SimonThat sounds like the problem. Are you holding down the option key while opening Zotero Standalone? I don't know what else would cause this.

ewnI am impressed :-). I (do) did open Zotero standalone with a hot-key-combination in Butler (http://manytricks.com/butler/) including the option key. Using a hot-key combination without the option key or opening Zotero standalone directly from within Finder works like wonders. Thanks again for a very helpful forum.
