Newspaper Article Date

Hello,

I'm using Firefox 3, Word 2008, MLZ, and Chicago Manual (author-date, German).
I need to generate the exact date of publishing of newspaper articles also in the text. Any ideas?

Thank you for your advice!
  • Erratum: of course, it is Firefox 3!
  • I assume you mean FF 13?
    This should make it easier:

the basic idea is to create a "choose" note, test for newspaper item type and then provide the full date and else leave the year. Let me know if that's enough.
  • What do you mean with FF 13?

I've seen the link in a previous discussion but couldn't figure out what to do. Also now, when I follow it I get an error page and the printer options menu opens.
I guess, I'll need more guidance, sorry...
  • There is a "Give Feedback" link in the editor page. Have you reported the fault to the developer?
  • The editor might have difficulties with invalid CSL code. Be sure that you validate your style before loading it to the editor:

  • Thank you for the hint - just given feedback let's see what will happen!
  • (FF 13 is Firefox 13 - if you actually have Firefox 3 the editor may very well not work and you should upgrade).
  • Unfortunately, with my configuration (Mac 10.5, Word 2008, MLZ) I cannot upgrade Firefox - unless I've missed something.

As for the validation, I've downloaded a style that was available in the repository, presuming that it will be OK. Is that not so?
  • for validation - yes.
As for Firefox - you should start looking for a different solution. FF 3.6 is no longer receiving critical security updates. Also, Zotero won't guarantee FF 3.6 compatibility for future versions.
In any case, you should be able to use any browser for the visual editor, so try it with Safari.
  • Yes, I know I should find another solution, I'm worried about security - but that will have to wait for after the deadline.

I could access the visual editor, however lacking IT skills I was not able to find a way how to edit the style >.<

Well, worst case, I'll insert the dates manually (and will hope that with the new solutions I'll be able to make things work)
