Is automatic sync triggered by change in attachment too?

I understand that automatic sync kicks in: when the Zotero pane is opened, 15 seconds after the last change in Zotero, every hour idle when idle, and when returning from more than 15 minutes of being idle.

Does the "15-second rule" rule apply to changes in attachments as well or just to changes to library items? I frequently open PDF attachments and make annotations, but this process doesn't seem to trigger the automatic 15-second sync.
  • Just changes to items. It's possible in the future we could tie into OS-specific libraries to efficiently detect changes, but that'd take some work, and the results might vary by OS. (inotify on Linux, for example, supposedly doesn't support recursively watching directories, so we might have to do something like monitoring just the files that were opened through Zotero and only for a fixed amount of time after the last save.)
